Updates to our Data Retention Policy

by Garrett Johnson

Here at EasyPost, we operate at the pace of the global shipping industry. We’re introducing a new Data Retention Policy to provide the best user data protection and align our data management practices more closely with industry standards. These updates will ensure the longevity of our infrastructure at scale.

What’s changing?

We’re creating a more granular retention policy for certain types of data.

  • Unpurchased shipment objects: Because these shipment objects are not purchased, we will reduce the time we retain this data from 3 years to 6 months.
  • Unpurchased rates: Because these rates are not purchased, we will reduce the time we retain this data from 28 days to 7 days.
  • Test mode objects: Because these objects are for testing only, we will separate them from production objects and retain the data for 30 days.

We know your data is important to you. By identifying the non-critical items above and reducing the amount of time we retain that data, we’re improving our user protection and data management to best serve you.

When will these changes take effect?

These changes will be effective on April 1, 2024. After this date, EasyPost will not be able to guarantee data retention outside of the new policy guidelines. Please take measures to adjust your data strategy as needed.
